We Ride to Find a Cure for Cancer

Mississippi Lime and HBM Holdings employees have been longtime supporters of the annual Pedal the Cause charity event, whose mission is to provide funding for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. This year, over 3,000 riders raised $2.8 million during the September 23rd and 24th cycling event.

Our team of cyclists pedaled for the many lives impacted by cancer every day, either directly or indirectly. Meet Peyton Wuennenberg, one of the event’s Featured Fighters. Peyton was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Leukemia when she was nine-years-old.  She was treated at Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and has ridden in the Kids Challenge for the past two years, raising $20,000 in 2016. Peyton, who is now twelve, rang the bell at Siteman Kids, signifying the end of her chemo treatments.

We are proud supporters of Pedal the Cause because we share their vision of a world without cancer and admire their bold model of using 100% of public donations for cancer research. This year, our employees raised over $37,000. Combined with corporate support, we are proud that over $70,000 will be donated to the organization this year. We are dedicated to creating a world without cancer to prevent another Peyton from being diagnosed with the disease.

In an email to all of the HBM and Mississippi Lime employees, Mike DeCola said: “Many future generations will benefit from the work you enabled with your generosity.”
