HBM welcomes Taylor Pyatt as Corporate Controller

HBM welcomed Taylor Pyatt as our Corporate Controller in early January. We recently spent some time with Taylor learning more about his background, his role at HBM and a bit more about him personally.

Will you tell us a little more about your professional background?

Out of college, I went straight into Big 4 accounting. I spent five and a half years at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), in St. Louis. While there, my client focus was mostly public company audits with a few private clients. I ended my time with the firm as an Assurance Manager.

What led you to HBM, and what interested you most about our opportunity?

The possibilities, business strategy and the people employed at HBM inspired me to be the next Corporate Controller. Along with that, I was very interested in the actual accounting process of a company with this operational style and the experience I was set to gain in this position.

How do you see yourself engaging across our businesses?

I’m intrigued by each portfolio company and how they play a role in the overall goal of the company. I believe I will have the chance to dive into the operations and accounting of these companies where I can add value and provide accounting assistance.

What will you be focusing on in 2022 as you settle into your role? Any key priorities?

My focus will be having a significant understanding of the operational accounting and how decisions made by the company impact our accounting/financials. Additionally, I want to prioritize driving quality and efficiencies within our accounting function, whether that is in the form of automation or recommendations.

When you are not at work how do you spend your free time?

I love spending time with my family and friends! Some of my hobbies include gardening, hunting, fishing, and traveling with my wife, Alicia.
