Recently, we had the opportunity to spend some time learning more from Elliot Adams, HBM’s new Infrastructure Engineer. In this newly created role, he will be responsible for the strategic and tactical direction of HBM’s IT Infrastructure and security environment.
Can you tell us a little more about your professional background?
I have over 15 years of experience with installation, configuration, security and support of infrastructure and networking systems including; servers, PCs, switches, routers, firewalls and wireless systems. I have owned and successfully operated my own IT company, Phoenix IT Solutions, for eight years. I currently hold Cisco Certifications CCENT, CCNA Route/Switch, and CCDA. In addition, I will be pursuing my VMWare Certified Associate (VCA) certification after graduation from Southeast Missouri State University.
What led you to HBM, and what interested you about our opportunity?
The need to expand, diversify, and retain the information I have worked so hard for over the years is what led me on my quest to improve my career. I saw the post for the Infrastructure Engineer with HBM and the requirements and expectations appeared as if they were written specifically for me. I took the chance to apply and I am here today.
How do you see yourself engaging across our businesses?
Over the next several months I would like to become accustomed with the internal processes and procedures of HBM and the portfolio companies, not only from a logistic and operational perspective, but with a focus on the technology that drives these businesses. I want to become an invaluable resource by fully understanding the infrastructure.
What will you be focusing on in 2020 as you settle into your role? Any key priorities?
I will be focusing on the current infrastructure moves that are occurring at our portfolio companies with a focal point of visiting these companies on a regular basis to assist and advise where needed.
When you are not thinking of IT how do you spend your free time?
I will be admit that I have a complex mind when it comes to separation from the IT field. Unfortunately, my mind is always thinking logically, but when it decides to take a break I enjoy making wine, jams, jellies, pickles, building structures, home improvements, and getting lost on a trail in nature, which I seem to enjoy the most. These activities allow me to rest and refresh my mind in order to keep IT intriguing and interesting!
Thanks, Elliot, for taking the time with us to share more about your background. We’re excited to have Elliot on board and welcome him to the HBM team!
